FNAC New Talents Website
Gamified literary voting platform and social contest created for FNAC Portugal. Over 10,000 readers evaluated unpublished short stories, with the top 5 winning authors published in print by FNAC.
1. Crowdsourced Literary Discovery
For over two decades, the FNAC New Talents initiative has launched the careers of Portugal's most promising writers, musicians, and photographers. In this landmark digital edition for literature, FNAC democratized the judging process by putting the power of literary discovery directly into the hands of the reading public under the campaign slogan: "This year, the choice was yours!".
Gamifying Portuguese Literature: 500 Points Per Vote
To incentivize deep reading rather than superficial clicks, readers earned 500 reward points for reading and voting on short stories. Readers could further multiply their score by sharing stories across social media, competing for 10 grand literary prize bundles.
2. Platform Mechanics & Reading UX
The platform transformed literary critique into a vibrant social community:
- Digital Reading Suite: Readers accessed 10 unpublished short stories selected by an expert jury (including "Sentimental Aesthetics", "Fashion Heroine", "The Ducks", "Infallible Tales", "Over the Steps That Kill", "The Storm", and "We Neither Weep Nor Kill the Mangy Dog") in a distraction-free, beautifully typeset digital reader.
- Viral Voting Engine: Each verified vote registered 500 points on the user's profile. Social share tools enabled readers to champion their favorite authors across social networks and email.
- Dynamic Leaderboards: Real-time public rankings displaying Most Voted Stories and Most Active Literary Influencers.
- Physical Publishing Grand Prize: The 5 highest-voted short stories were professionally typeset, printed, and published by FNAC as a commercial paperback anthology sold across all stores in Portugal.
3. Project Leadership & Campaign Engagement
Developed at Transglobal Advanced New Media, the project achieved record participation from literary circles and young readers, generating thousands of social shares and establishing a new benchmark for cultural crowdsourcing.
